Carissa Redmond is a native of Kansas City, KS, Wyandotte County, born and raised. Carissa graduated from F.L. Schlagle High School and attended Kansas City Kansas Community College. She is a mother of three beautiful children and grandmother of two handsome grandsons. Ms. Redmond worked in the role of outreach, community mobilizer and lead facilitator over the last 20 years for organizations such as Project E.A.G.L.E. Community Health Programs, KC Healthy Start Program and the YWCA of Greater KC. After serving the community in that capacity, Carissa went on to serve the community as a bus operator for KCATA/Ride KC where she served there for over 5yrs. Carissa completed the Community Health Worker Course in November of 2015 where she became certified and is currently employed as a Community Health Worker (CHW) for KC CARE Clinic. It is here that she is able to continuously operate in her passion of assisting members in the community to access resources and assist them with their healthcare/social needs. In addition, she has recently become a certified Life Coach for the Diabetes Prevention Program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending it with her family/friends, traveling, two-step dancing performances and competitions as well as working on writing her own book.
