Suzana Hernandez

Suzana Hernandez is a Community Health Worker for the Sedgwick County Health Department in the Maternal Child Health Department. Suzana was born and raised on the border of the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. She is the mother to five adult children and three granddaughters. Suzana’s passion comes from her own struggle and understanding the hardship people face when trying to make a better life for their families while facing socioeconomic barriers. She has provided case management services in her community for the last 10 years. Her focus is to provide resources that permanently improve the quality of life. Suzana obtained a  Kansas Certified Peer Mentor in 2013 and began working with people with addiction problems. She is a Domestic Violence group facilitator and assessor. She facilitated the Spanish BIP group for Sedgwick County and started the first Spanish-speaking female BIP group. She is a Domestic Violence Advocate at one of the local DV shelters. Suzana continues to attend trainings to be prepared to better serve the populations she works with.
